Water Fringe, fringed water-lily, yellow water snowflake are all common names for the little gem, Nymphoides. A vigorous grower that shades the water with its two inch maroon marbled leaves, provides cover for fish and helps keep water clean and algae free. Its small size makes it great for containers (simply trim to the desired size.) Yellow fringed blossoms of the water-fringe are some of the brightest blossoms of the water garden.
Nymphoides, water lily-like plants can be planted directly into a pond or in a pot at about 18" depth. Here in New Hampshire we grow the painted variety as an annual, hardy zones 7-11, in full sun. They grow vigorously during the season and then die off during the winter months allowing for easy controll of this water garden gem. www.nhpond.com
